Yes, our online community is ephemeral. And yet, with many of the people in my day-to-day life, I have no idea what they're thinking about. Here, we're discussing ideas. It's enriching.

I'm glad you remember the piece I wrote about the residential schools. When I write about "issues" like that, or space tourism or language or whatever, very few readers seem to notice them. Hence, I mostly focus on humour. Right now I'm working on one about eccentric scientists.

Well, that's not true, because I'm on a getaway to Victoria (B.C.'s capital city) with some friends, so not much writing is getting done. I admire writers who post more frequently than I do, but I'm 72. I want to make sure I fit in other enriching activities while I still can.
