The trajectories of our lives have taken are fascinating to consider, especially as we get older. My father was unable to find work for a time due to his epilepsy. I learned from a speaker at his funeral that once, when he was declined for a job, he bravely wrote to that Christian company challenging them to "live their values" by taking a chance on him in spite of his condition. They reconsidered, and hired him!

I had never known he did that instead of just giving up. I was so proud of him when I heard that, that's how he provided for us, and I'd never even known that. His letter changed his life, and ours.
