Same issue here in Canada, Roopa. My daughter lives in the U.S. and her American gift cards to me only work on the American site.

I just read an interesting article on Medium by Sarah Cords about a book about Amazon called FULFILLMENT. It argues we should be buying less from Amazon. (I haven't read it yet.)
