Many are learning the hard way that Covid is not a hoax. Here on the Island, we recently lost a young father to Covid. He was a farmer in his 30s who believed his healthy lifestyle of working outdoors put him at low risk, so he chose not to be vaccinated. He leaves behind a grief-stricken wife, an infant born in June and a toddler. Tragic. I'm sorry you also lost a friend to Covid recently. Condolences.
