I graduated from university with a degree in French literature, and my professors urged me to do further studies in France. It was unthinkable in my day, and to my family, so I put the idea out of my mind and got married like all my girlfriends in the early 70s. A big regret, to this day. I'm glad you had the experience, even if it did stretch you out of your comfort zone.
