I broke my back in 2016 and was depressed about losing mobility, not to mention the pain. Dance has brought me back to life! I am in my Seventies, and I participate in Ballroom and Latin line dancing with people aged 55 — 92! It’s so much fun to move to music that you don’t notice you’re exercising, but your Fitbit sure registers lots of steps. It’s good for your brain to learn the steps (and try to get the mind and body moving in sync). You forget your worries and aches and pains while you concentrate. Since many seniors don’t have partners, solo line dancing is perfect. Covid has temporarily cut down our class size but a few of us are still dancing, well-spaced and with open doors. We’re hooked. I’d recommend dance to anyone who’s been reluctant to exercise. You don’t have to be good, you just have to move to music. Even the wrong moves are still exercise!

P.S. I first tried ballroom dancing WITH my husband. That was a bit of a disaster, but funny. I wrote about it here if you need a laugh.
