I agree. There are many complex factors influencing outcomes. Even if we were able to wave a magic wand and do away with racism (and how I wish we could!), outcomes would not necessarily or likely be proportional.

As for whether a brain surgeon could be no smarter than me--well, if, one day, I need one, I hope mine is a good deal smarter than me!
