A thought-provoking piece. It is odd, yet true, that perfectionism can actually be a factor in such "imperfect" afflictions as alcoholism. Apparently hoarding, which we might think of as just extreme messiness, can also be a result of perfectionism. The person doesn't believe they can ever get things cleared away properly, they'd never have enough time, or space, or whatever, so they never make a beginning on clearing the clutter.
I have a tendency toward perfectionism, so I have a note pinned above my desk: "Perfect is the enemy of done."
